We all know that moving can be a stressful event in a person's life. Here are some tips that we have put together to help make your moving experience as hassle free as possible.
- Start early. As soon as you have a moving date set, the best thing you can do is start preparing as soon as possible.
- Get your date secured with your mover. We make every attempt to accommodate, but once dates are taken, it's only fair that we keep our commitment.
- Sort through items and part way with what can be tossed or donated. See your move as a new start. A garage or online sale can help save yourself from later unpacking unwanted items.
- Remove items off walls and shelves that aren't used on a daily basis. (i.e. decorative items, books, artwork, frames)
- LABEL! LABEL! LABEL! Especially essentials and special care items.
- Get to cookin! Start using food in your freezer/pantry to avoid the risk of food or beverages being wasted.
- Begin to notify all companies you do business with of your address change (i.e., utility companies, DMV, credit card companies, schools, employers)
- 24 hours before the move, unplug, and defrost refrigerators/freezers. Empty kitchen appliances. Remember to have services shut off after move, but keep active through moving day.
- Have a walk through to check all areas like closets, attics, yards, and sheds to avoid items unseen items being forgotten.
